| The building currently housing Indochina Spirit is made from precious Rose Wood and about 90 years old. Before 1975, the year the Lao Monarchy was abolished, it was used as living house by the King's doctor. Afterwards when its owner moved to Vientiane the nice building was literally abandoned. It found new life after 1994 when German visitor Markus Peschke eventually fell in love with the wooden beauty. Careful renovation was carried out restoring most of the old fittings and installations. A collection of old furniture and artworks adds to the charme of one of the nicest spots of the World Heritage Town. And of course the house itself is also listed as one of the buildings protected by heritage status. | |||||||||||||
